Cannonfire and Half-Mast Flags (Axis Powers Hetalia, Russia/China)

What's this? A ficpost from a Puel? Why yes. Yes it is.

I have missed writing, I really have.

Title: Cannonfire and Half-Mast Flags
Author: [info]puella_nerdii
Fandom: Axis Powers Hetalia
Characters/Pairing: Russia/China, Lithuania
Rating: PG-13, for allusions to sexuality and possibly disturbing imagery

Russia's boss is dead, and Russia's bed is cold. )

Hopefully I will not wait another month to post fic. I don't think I will. Ideas, I has them.

No, Mith and I do not have an excuse for this one. *cough*

Seven (Code Geass, Suzaku)

This is the first half (or two-thirds) of my Written in the Stars intro for Suzaku, and this is the part that stands absolutely fine on its own.

Also, I've wanted to write this fic forever, or a version of it. Well, I've wanted to write it since R2 started, at any rate.

/Suzaku fan since episode one, yo.

Title: Seven
Author: [info]puella_nerdii
Fandom: Code Geass
Characters: Suzaku; Emperor Charles, Anya, Gino
Rating: PG-13 (brawling, Britannian racism, some language; also, spoilers through R2 episode 2)
Words: ~4500
Summary: He isn’t sure what he expected, but it wasn’t this. But he never gets what he expects, does he?

Lelouch—Zero—says nothing. That’s fine. Suzaku has nothing to say to him. )

Apostle's Creed (Axis Powers Hetalia, Lithuania)

So I got hijacked with the mental image of Lithuania going to confession.

And then I wrote this.

I blame my Catholic upbringing.

A lot.

Title: Apostle's Creed
Author: [info]puella_nerdii
Fandom: Axis Powers Hetalia
Characters: Lithuania, mentions of Russia
Rating: PG-13, for offscreen Russia and life under the Iron Curtain
Words: ~3100
Timestamp: September 5, 1951 -- the beginning of the end for the armed Lithuanian resistance to Soviet rule.
Summary: God still speaks, Lietuva. Churches were once places of sanctuary, and Lithuania seeks shelter in a confessional as he flees the NKVD.

I haven't spoken to America or England or France since the war. )

The Enemy's Gate is Down (Axis Powers Hetalia, America, Russia, England)

I have been waiting to write this fic for forever. FOREVER, I tell you.

...okay, more like a month. Still.

(why yes I did read Ender's Game and why yes it was formative, why do you ask?)

Title: The Enemy's Gate is Down
Author: [info]puella_nerdii (with [info]mithrigilian assist)
Fandom: Axis Powers Hetalia
Characters: America, Russia, England
Rating: PG-13, for language, thematic implications, and Russia having no concept of personal space.
Words: ~3800
Timestamp: July 27, 1945, during the Potsdam Conference.
Summary: "You're going to change everything, America." "Yeah, but isn't that what I always do?"

The only one grasping here is you. )

Sub Specie Aeternitatis, part two (Axis Powers Hetalia, America and the Endless)

Yeah, so, um. This is not Wednesday. In my defense, I had finals?

...and this ended up getting longer than I thought it would?

...a lot longer?

Hopefully it doesn't suck. I don't know. In some ways I think this is kind of my love letter to intertextuality. Though in less SRS BIZNESS, it also features America getting stoned with Delirium during Woodstock. So.

Title: Sub Specie Aeternitatis, part two
Author: [info]puella_nerdii, though credit/blame is, as always, due to [info]mithrigil.
Fandom: Axis Powers Hetalia, crossed with the Sandman (though knowledge of either canon should suffice. Or neither canon; anthropomorphic personifications have a way of making themselves understood.)
Characters: America and, in this half, Despair and Delirium, with guest appearances by Lithuania and England and mentions of Death.
Rating: PG-13 for language, a few macabre images, and drug use. (Did I mention that one of the sections takes place during Woodstock?)
Words: 4480 without footnotes.
Summary: Even countries are bound by the forces that embody this world.

Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses. Well, he's got them now. )

...and now for Yuletide!
Which I totally have not been neglecting!
Really!
ahahaha I'm fucked, aren't I.

Sub Specie Aeternitatis, part one (Axis Powers Hetalia, America and the Endless)

It is kind of my goal in life to cross over everything ever with the Sandman. Therefore, this.

Let me not to the marriage of true anthropomorphic personifications admit impediment, after all.

Title: Sub Specie Aeternitatis, part one
Author: [info]puella_nerdii, though credit/blame is, as always, due to [info]mithrigil.
Fandom: Axis Powers Hetalia, crossed with the Sandman (though knowledge of either canon should suffice. Or neither canon; anthropomorphic personifications have a way of making themselves understood.)
Characters: America and, in this half, Destiny, Dream, Desire, and Destruction.
Rating: R, for sexuality and intimations of violence, and you can guess whose faults those are.
Words: 4100 without footnotes.
Summary: Even countries are bound by the forces that embody this world.

It is not in your nature to know where you are going. )

Part Two will be posted either tomorrow or Wednesday, depending on how I want to space things out.

Anthem, part one (Axis Powers Hetalia, America, France)

So this is the first part of a joint effort between me and [info]mithrigil -- I wrote the first half, she wrote the second, and we both strongly influenced each other's half, because that is what we do.

(We definitely picked the right sides, though. Writing America is like writing a lobotomized Zack Fair. Or a more Stephen Colbert-ish version of Stephen Colbert.)

Title: Anthem, part one
Authors: Puel and Mith, or Mith and Puel (name order doesn't matter, Gundam Wing fandom)
Fandom: Axis Powers Hetalia
Characters: America, France
Rating: Light R, for F-bombs and France being France
Words: 6600 combined -- this installment, 3800.
Summary: May, 1787. France helps America write the Constitution. Hijinks ensue.

And then Burr whipped out his pistol and I just sort of ran. )

On to Part Two

Fugue (Persona 3, Minato)

I debated whether or not to post this one to [info]kinkfest, and ultimately decided against it, because this fic isn't really what the prompter asked for. Not so much songs defining Minato's life here as -- well, Minato's own fragmented sense of self defining his life.

He is such a creepy little fucker. CREEPY LITTLE FUCKER. But I like writing him.

Fugue. Persona 3, Minato and assorted others. PG-13 for some whacked-out imagery and Minato being wrong in the head, ~2600 words. No significant spoilers.
He remembers things by association, primarily.

Fugue )

And now to tackle...um. Everything else on my to-do list.
...at least I have a lot of time backstage to work on all that stuff?

memento mori, Chapter Four (X/Yami no Matsuei, Subaru, Tsuzuki, Hisoka)

Yeah. Fricken' finally.

I ended up having to split this in two, because Subaru-and-Hisoka POV would have made this chapter far too long.

I -- I fail at writing. orz. And at self-imposed deadlines. So I will not make any promises when Chapter Five's coming out, except to say that it will, really. I'm looking at seven chapters total now, not counting the two outtakes I plan on writing. The whole thing should be about ... 35k, I think. Longest thing I've written in ages.

So I can apparently write plots that sustain themselves for longer than 5000 words or so. Yay.

memento mori. X/Yami no Matsuei crossover, Subaru, Tsuzuki, and Hisoka. PG-13 for this chapter, R for later ones. ~5000 words in this chapter, 19420 in the story thus far. Significant spoilers for the Kyoto arc of Yami no Matsuei and for post-Volume 18 of X.
On the eve of Shoro Nagashi, the second division of Enmacho dispatches its shinigami to halt a series of mysterious supernatural deaths; miles away, the Japanese government sends the newest Sakurazukamori to do the same. Three men, two investigations, one killer - how all are alike and unlike.
chapter one x chapter two x chapter three
chapter four: Subaru learns what he's become, and draws the wrath of the dead.

memento mori, Chapter Three (X/Yami no Matsuei, Subaru, Tsuzuki, Hisoka)

HI. I FAIL.

*sigh* Life has been crazy lately, what can I say? I feel horrible about promising things and then utterly not delivering, but. um. Thank you for your patience with me, seriously.

memento mori. X/Yami no Matsuei crossover, Subaru, Tsuzuki, and Hisoka. PG-13 for this chapter, R for later ones. 4947 words in this chapter, 14428 in the story thus far. Significant spoilers for the Kyoto arc of Yami no Matsuei and for post-Volume 18 of X.

I said weekly update schedule, and I'm going to stick to that, dammit.

And thanks so much to everyone who read the first part. Your encouragement means a lot, it really does. *smooshes you all*

memento mori. X/Yami no Matsuei crossover, Subaru, Tsuzuki, and Hisoka. PG-13 for this chapter, R for later ones. 5106 words in this chapter, 9480 in the story thus far. Significant spoilers for the Kyoto arc of Yami no Matsuei and for post-Volume 18 of X.

memento mori, Chapter One (X/Yami no Matsuei, Subaru, Tsuzuki, Hisoka)

So here it is.

After consulting with a few people, and after tearing my hair out over this thing for god knows how long, I've decided to make it chaptered and thus hopefully easier for readers to digest. It's going to be a monster, but I'm going to be damn proud of it. I already am.

This fic works if you know either Yami no Matsuei canon or X canon. I think. I hope. The two series do have similarities. For those wishing additional context, I direct you to Yami no Matsuei's wiki page and Wikipedia's summation of Subaru's story (or Tokyo Babylon and the Relevant Parts of X in Five Minutes, if you're feeling irreverent).

memento mori. X/Yami no Matsuei crossover, Subaru, Tsuzuki, and Hisoka. PG for this chapter, R for later ones. 4370 words thus far. Significant spoilers for the Kyoto arc of Yami no Matsuei and for post-Volume 18 of X.

chapter one: Subaru extrapolates, or tries to, while Hisoka refuses to crack.

I expect I'll be posting new chapters on a weekly basis or thereabouts.

Never Have I Ever (X/1999, Dragons of Heaven)

Even my humorfic has edges to it. I am so not a genre purist.

Co-authored with [info]mithrigil, who is goddamn wonderful.

Never Have I Ever. X/1999, Kamui, Subaru, and the Dragons of Heaven. 3300 words, PG-13 (language, implications).
Sorata decides to play a drinking game with the other Seals. Alcohol and Subaru don't mix. TMI ensues, and also pain.

How Do You Solve a Problem Like Minato? (Persona 3, Junpei, Cast)

I don't even know.

I wrote this today in like one sitting, because apparently I am productive when it is better for me to be working on things that are, you know, school.

Thus, How Do You Solve a Problem Like Minato? Persona 3, Junpei and the rest of the cast. 3440 words, PG at most. Set right before the August full moon, so minor spoilers for who's in your party by that point.

In which Junpei wonders why the world seems to revolve around Minato Arisato. (Yep, metahumor.)

Fortune and Fools, Chapter Two (FFXII AU, Balthier, Zecht)

Aaand here's chapter two, finally. ehe. You know, considering how long it took me to write the first chapter, the turnover time between chapters one and two is actually short! In all seriousness, though, I think chapter three's coming along next week.

Here's Chapter One, if you missed it. A brief recap: After running away, Balthier decides to become an actor instead of a sky pirate, and thinks himself quite clever after penning a few plays and escaping Archadia's notice. He discovers he's wrong about the latter point when Judge Magister Zecht asks him to make a choice -- either he gets a court-martial for desertion, or he puts his talents to use as a spy for Archades...

Fortune and Fools, Chapter Two. FFXII AU; Balthier, Zecht, and a whole slew of others. 4340 words. This chapter is worksafe, others may not be.
Ffamran Bunansa ran away to become the leading man, but the role of Balthier carries its perils.
Chapter Two: In which Balthier makes a choice and adopts a new profession.

Fortune and Fools, Chapter One (FFXII AU, Balthier, Zecht)

I need to get back on a normal sleep schedule. D:

This thing has been in the back of my head since at least November. Probably October. But it just didn't want to get worked on until now. (This has previously been known as: the Balthier-as-a-bastardized-version-of-Kit-Marlowe fic, the theatre AU, the HAY PUEL YOUR PROFESSION IS SHOWING fic, etc.)

HUGE THANKS to [info]lassarina for letting me babble about this to her.

This is not written for a challenge. This has chapters and plot and even funny. And I wrote it because I had a story to tell. And it feels so good to type those words again. <3

Fortune and Fools, Chapter One. FFXII AU; Balthier, Zecht, and eventually a whole slew of others. 5100 words. This chapter is worksafe, others may not be.

Chapter One: In which Balthier thinks himself quite clever and is proven wrong on this count several times.

MITH'S FAULT. Ends of the World (DDS/Utena, Akio, Heat)

Mith's fault. And the tournament's fault, but mostly Mith's.

Ends of the World. DDS/Utena crossover thing, Heat and Akio. R for suggestive images and language. 400 words.
What Heat finds at the Ends of the World.
Yeah.
Still makes sense if you only know DDS, I think.

Yuletide Reveal: Words, Words, Words (American Gods, Shadow)

I only ended up writing the one thing for Yuletide this year, as I didn't have the time or inclination to write on Christmas Eve, but I'm pleased with the story, and playing around in Neil Gaiman's worlds is always so much fun, if a bit terrifying. (I do perhaps love the man more than is strictly healthy. *cough*)

I agonized about this one a lot, because I was torn between writing for American Gods and for A Song of Ice and Fire, but I know GRRM is adamantly against fanfic, and his stance kind of froze me up at the time. I still might do my recipient's ASoIaF request for a NYR if I have time this month, which I probably will. Then I got the idea of teenage Shadow meeting the Fates. Then I could write.

This isn't quite my usual style (ZOMG past tense), but I like how it came out.

Words, Words, Words. ~1.2k. After his mother's death, Shadow meets three enigmatic women and discovers that all stories are true, though not all are real.
