meme! (and marked absence of free time coming up!)
My father is getting married next weekend!

Finals are right around the corner, too! And oh boy do I have a lot of final projects and papers to contend with!

And I'm helping my friends out with our newest machinima* project!
Machinima: Think Red vs. Blue. But we're using Fallout 3 because Microsoft dicked us over so badly with our last venture.

I am not going to have a life anymore! Not that I really have one now!

ahahaha. Ahaha. Aha. Ha. ohgodwhyyyy.

(Also, it would be now when I finally feel like writing again. Which makes a certain amount of sense, come to think of it. I find I generally end up writing more, and being more productive, when I'm juggling lots of things at once, because I have to manage my time well.)

Comment, and I'll:
1. Tell you why I friended you.
2. Associate you with something - fandom, a song, a color, a photo, a word etc.
3. Tell you something I like about you.
4. Tell you a memory I have of you.
5. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
6. Tell you my favorite user pic of yours.
7. In return, you must post this in your LJ.
-- only if you want to.

That is supercool about the machinima. :D I've always thought machinima are really neat. Good luck with that to you and your friends! And, you know, with everything else. :)

I volunteer to link examples? Granted, all the machinima I now of is made with World of Warcraft, but...

Okay, so basically machinima is the art of making animation using video games. At its most basic, the players can be considered as analogous to puppeteers, where the puppets are characters in the game.

Machinima quality can really vary. Some people just do what I outline above and make use of in-game animations only. Some people take existing game models and ignore animations existing in the game and animate from scratch. And then you throw in ordinary film-making techniques like transitions and scene changes and whatnot, and machinima can get pretty elaborate.

And now, examples!

Snacky's Journal is a series that mostly makes use of in-game animations from World of Warcraft.

In World of Warcraft, at least, music videos made with machinima are pretty common. Here's a really good one for the song Breaking by Anberlin.

Here's another music video one, but one that's pretty basic mostly just using what's in the game without adding filters and fancy effects like in Breaking. Highwayman by CraniusPresents.

Annnd an example of non-music video machinima, mostly as an example of other stuff that can be done using machinima. Murkilla trailer.

And finally, saving the best for last, one that's (as far as I can tell) animated completely from scratch, but using character models and settings that can be found in World of Warcraft itself. Presenting BLIND, by Percula.
